GIS Research Manager
Daniel earned his Master of Science degree from the Department of Environmental Studies at Florida International University. His areas of expertise include remote sensing, digital image processing, geographic database design, and GIS analysis. He oversees the technical and scientific research aspects of the Center’s projects.
Web Developer, GIS Programmer
Daniel is a graduate of Florida International University, where he studied Information Technology at the School of Computer Science. He specializes in developing web-based applications, and open source server management. His experience includes GIS programming, metadata storage and retrieval, GIS desktop applications, and systems administration.

Boyuan is a graduate of Florida International University, where he studied Transportation Engineering at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Beihang University in China, he specializes in developing web-based database and GIS applications, programming, and using GIS software in civil engineering project management.

Julian graduated from Florida International University with a B.S. in Environmental Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems. Research Associate
Ximena earned her Master of Science degree from Florida International University’s Department of Earth and Environment. She develops training modules to prepare data for disaster risk assessment modeling using remotely sensed data and open source GIS software.
GIS Service Assistant
Steve handles class hosting reservations for the GIS computer labs on both campuses, poster printing for pickup at BBC, software licenses for students and faculty, and access to free online GIS training modules for students. General inquiries can be directed to him at gisrs@fiu.edu.

Matthew earned his Master of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Miami. He has worked on a wide, multi-disciplinary range of projects employing geospatial technologies and methodologies. Matthew is responsible for coordinating activities, programs, and research between the GIS Center and MIUS (Maps & Imagery User Services), and the broader FIU and outside communities.
